App stopped working and now its stuck in search mode. Force close evertime and cant play anything anymore! Want me $5 back!!

Evidently something is broken after the latest Xbox update. The app will connect, but wont play any movies. It acts as if it’s playing, but my guess is that Microsoft updated the app on thier end, and something in the code for this app became broken.

This app was amazing at first but for some strange reason, it just stopped. Followed all the TS steps. Even contacted the company/developers. 2 weeks later and I still haven’t heard a reply. I really want a refund on this. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!

Seriously, don’t!! This isnt playing anything on my Samsung smart tv, and I’ve “set up” everything just the way it is supposed to be… SO frustrating, especially when I try using the SofaPlay Help tab from the "Help” menu; right away a pop-up notified me that “help does not exist”. Ominous. Way to be super unhelpful, SofaPlay!

I use this app occasionally to play video on my Mac to a Samsung smart TV. I’m satisfied with my purchase.

It used to work perfect but now it will not locate my xbox one device so basically i spent 5 dollars for nothing.. please fix this is ridiculous

Its had a bit of trouble connecting from day one, but ever since El Capitan, it WILL NOT connect to my xbox one. Please update.

First downloaded SofaPlay lite (free) to test the app would work, per developers instructions.  It played 10 seconds of video and then stopped.  I believed this was proper for the lite version.  I then purchased full version and it still only plays 10 seconds of a longer video.  I tried several different movie formats and they all failed. I tried restarting my machine but same result. Some videos were only 20 seconds long and it still stopped playing at 10 seconds. Contacted the developer but never heard back. I am seeking a full refund.

This app gets the job done, but half the time I use it I end up having to force close it. Also I use it with my Xbox One and all the time I have to completely power down my console to get this app to find it. It’s just annoying and it’s something that I never have to do on my Windows 10 machine.

First of all, all apps should be judged by what they do, not what they do NOT do, unless they advertise it. This app does what it says it does. It plays ONE VIDEO (or media I suppose) at a time directly to your xbox. ( I have not tried to a smart TV) FIRST, go get the Sofaplay Lite and test it to see if it works before you buy. There was no setting up for me. YOUR XBOX and MAC need to be on the same network! One can be ethernet, the other WiFi, as long as its the same network. One on 5K and the other on 2.4k wont matter. I use this app when Im in a hurry to watch something as soon as its downloaded. Im an all apple person, maybe like you. Have to convert MKVs before they play on the apple TV (Do you hear this Apple???) Even if you use streaming like Serviio they have to upload to server first before they will be recognized. With this, you simply drop the video file on the program window, and it starts IMMEDIATELY. Youll have to pause it because it starts it before your ready to watch, thats how fast it is! You can control the video through the xbox. all commands work, pause, REW, FF, etc. The only reason I can think of for the negative reviews is that 1)People didnt realize what it was, maybe thinking its a streaming service for multiple items 2) didnt work with their TV For no.2, download the SofaPlay lite, its free and it will work for 2 minutes of video then stop. youve proven it works, and you can pay the 5 dollars for this app that works perfect!

I love how you can put Videos or Music in the Dropbox and Watch or Listen to them on your SmartTV. It works Great!!!!

OK AT FIRST I WAS FUSTRATED LIKE WHY IS THIS APP CUTTING OFF 20 SECONDS GOING IN. AND YES I TRIED THE FIRST GO TO APP AND THE GIMMICK HERE I SEE IS U GOT TO READ THE FINE LINES PEOPLE. IT SAYS SEE EVERYTHING FROM YOUR “BIG SCREEN” BUT DOESNT REALLY TELL U THAT U WILL ONLY BE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS FROM A YOUR XBOX CAUSE THATS THE ONLY SPOT YOUR LIVE VIDEOS WILL PLAY. TRICKY TRICKY CAUSE IF U READ THE FINE PRINT IT SAYS PLAY YOUR MEDIA ON THE TV. SO THEY NOT LYING MEDIA MEANS MUSIC FILES ONLY FOR THE TV……….BUT ITS THE WAY IT WAS PRESENTED WITH THE FREE APP THAT U GET ALL EXCITED AND THINK OH MAN LIVE VIDEOS FROM MY TV TO MAC. YEAH FOR 20 SECONDS AND 2 MINUTES ON THE FREE APP LOL. BUT THE MANIPULATION IS IN THE FREE APP AND WE SEE WHAT WE WANT TOO SEE AND GO WITH IT. LOL. I FOR ONE AM NOT MAD AT THEM GOT MY COINS BUT I STILL LOVE WHAT IT DOES. JUST TOO ZOOM TO MY XBOX QUICKER THAN FLASH NOW IS AWESOME. AND PLAYING MY MUSIC FROM MY TV ISNT BAD EITHER. NOW THAT EYES ARE OPEN AND NOW SEE WHAT YALL DID THERE I CANT BE MAD LOL BUT U SEE WHERE PEOPLE ARE GOING IN AT THOUGH. BUT OVER ITS NO APPLE TV BY FAR. AND IF U CAN WORK ON THE CONTROLS FOR MORE THINGS IT SHOULD BE ABLE TO WOULD BE NICE

This app lists that it can fast forward and rewind but it DOESN’T! False advertising!! Was at the end of a movie and the app cuts off and there’s no way to get back to where I was without restarting the entire film!

Like the title says, it has never worked…for me. Keep in mind that this is my first review and I felt strongly enough to write a review on this worthless app. The app doesn’t work, period; I’m running a rMBP ‘13. I’ve sense uploaded videos to Google Drive and use a different app to stream videos to my Xbox One and Chromecast. I wouldn’t be as harsh if the developer would provide a full working version for 15-30 days for evaluation, instead I’m stuck with this junk.
